The World is facing challenges caused due to the climate change. And as a Country, we have an additional struggle to reduce our reliance on foreign oil and improve our economic competitiveness.
Solar Power is a solution to all these problems to a great extent. With the technology of solar cells getting better with time, this form of clean, renewable energy is finding more applications.
The Indian government significantly increased its solar plans in January 2015, aiming for $100 billion in investment and 100 GW of solar energy by 2022. Since then, the country's solar capacity has increased to more than 34 GW by the end of FY 2020.
To help meet this massive capacity expansion target, the Government of India recently increased the Renewable Power Purchase Obligation (RPO) for all obligated entities to 21% by 2022 and exempted inter-state transmission charges and losses.
To help the Solar Sector grow faster, the Government of India has approved Solar Parks of accumulated capacity of 40GW and has introduced the concept of solar parks, which will enable large-scale grid-connected solar projects to be built in one place.
